Found the right form for the arena.

The arena for that game is actually the shape of the city of Montreal's logo. The main reason for this was that one of the restriction was that we had to represent Montreal. I also decided on that shape because it gave a feeling of arena without being a plain circle or square.

An other important part of the level design for that game was the train passing in the middle of the arena. That train represented the metro of Montreal which also fulfilled the restriction. The passing train was forcing the player to be aware of its surrounding. It also served to push the players to be stuck together in half the size of the original arena, augmenting the difficulty of survival.
